Ayobami Adebayo《 Born 29,January 1988》is a Nigerian writer . Her Novel ” Stay With Me ” ,the book won the 9mobile prize literature and the prix led afriaque , she was also awarded Future Awards Africa prize for Arts and culture in 2017

● Early&Personal life

Born in lagos state Nigeria in 1988 , shortly after she was born she moved to Ilesa and then Ile- Ife with her family , she spent most of her childhood in the University staff Quarter of Obafemi Awolowo University.

Ayobami studied at Obafemi Awolowo University earning BA and MA degree in literature in English , she then proceeded to University of East Anglia , England where she studied Creative writing , she was awarded an international Bursary , she also studied writing with Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Margaret Atwood.

Abayomi is married to Emmanuel Iduma who is a writer and Art Critic

● Writing Career

In 2009 , she started working as an Editor for Saraba Magizine magazine and she has been working with them since then.

In 2017 ,she published her first book ” Stay with Me” , the book was subsequently published in US by Alfred A. Knopf and in Nigeria by Ouida Books , one of the reader described the Books as a short book packs a helluva punch , there hasn’t not been a book in recent memory that has elicited so many audible gasps or exclamations of surprise from me”, The Novel has been translated into more than 18 language.

After the Novel was novel it was shortlisted for the Bailey prize for woman fiction, the wellcome book prize and the 9mobile Prize for Literature, the book was also longlisted for the International Dylan Thomas Prize . It was named the notable book of the year by The New York times, and the best of the year by The Guardian, The Economist,The wall street Journal and many other publications.

Ayobami has been writer in residnec at Ledig House Omi, Hedgebrook, Sinithian Cultural Institute , Ox Bow school of art , Macdowell Colony and Ebedi Hills . Her second novel, a spell of Good things is expected to be published in 2023
