Idowu Phillips( Born October 16, 1942) popularly known as Iya Rainbow is an acclaimed known Nigeria Veteran Actress. She is popularly known for her role in The Narrow path(2006), Edaa(2010), Ogidan(2004), and Oga Bolaji(2018).

Born on October 16, 1942, at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state Nigeria. Iya Rainbow attended African Methodist School for her primary school education and Anglican Modern school for her secondary school education, she then proceeded to Nursing School where she obtained her skills as a Nurse.
After graduating from Nursing School, she began to work as Healthcare Assistant and at the same time working as an actress alongside her husband, Augustine Ayanfemi Philip, it was under her late husband’s Theatre Group, Osumare Group that she started grooming her Skills. Mama Rainbow layer’s Husband, Augustine Ayanfemi Philip worked closely with the late Yoruba Legend Actor, Hubert Ogunde.
Unfortunately in 1984, she lost her husband in the cold hand of death, she was Forty-Two years when the event happened. She continued to work as Healthcare Assistant until three years when she was forty-five years old, she stopped working as Healthcare Assistant and joined his late husband’s Theatre group, Osumare under the Late Yoruba Movie Actor legend actor, Hubert Ogunde advice .
Venturing fully into Acting, she got her name, Iya Rainbow from the stage name she portrayed when acting, Iya Rainbow appeared first in Aso Asiri, Back to Africa in 1997, and Lagidigba in 2000. She appeared in series of movies in 2000s including 150million( 2003), Irepodun(2002], Fila Daddy(2003), Ife Otito (2003), Ogidan and lot more .
In 2008, she made an appearance in Taiwo Taiwo 2 , alongside Funke Akindele, FemFemi Adebayoi Adebayo, Adebayo Salami, Yinka Quadri, Iyabo Ojo and Toyin Afolayan . In that same year ,she also debuted in Aje metta 1&2 where she debuted as Mama Olakanmi .
In 2009, Iya Rainbow made appearance in Apaadi, a blockbuster and hit movie directed by Funke Akindele ,featuring alongside Femi AdebayFemi Adebayo , Adebayo Salami ,Yinka Quadri , Taiwo Hassan(Ogogo) and Olaniyi Afonja( Sanyeri) ,the movie was a hit as these was watched all almost throughout the household in the western part of the country . A well Acclaimed actress ,a respectable personality in the Nigerian Nollywood movie industry, she has debuted in over 150 movies since her first appearance in the industry .

Following her husband dealth in 1984, Iya Rainbow chose to not remarry again , already with five children , she emphasized during an interview that no man is ready to accept someone with Five kids ,so she put all her effort in raising her children. Among his children, the two prominent among them are Femi Phillips who is an actor and Sola Osborne who passed away on Thursday January 14,2016 after a protracted battle with Ulcer.
