Early Life
Timaya was born on 15th of August 1980 in Port Harcourt, River state of Nigeria, but he hailed from Odi, Bayelsa state ,Nigeria. His father was a banker and his mother was a trader . He attended Assemblies of God Nursery and primary school for his primary. After completing his primary school education he got admitted to a secondary school at Nkpolu orowukwo in Port Harcourt and completed his secondary school education at Lahos Ikeja Grammar school where he obtained his secondary school certificate.
He returned to Port Harcourt to study Banking and Finance but he dropped out after one semester due to poor performance.
Music career
Timaya begin his career in 2005, when he release “Dem mama”. The song later appeared on his debut album “True story” . He rose to prominence when he released his third studio album ,De birth.
In 2010, he featured with a gospel music artist to produce Kokoroko , the song went to win the best Collaboration at the Headies Award.
In 2017, he established his own record label “Dem Mama”, he signed Patroranking,Runtown and lot of others to the Record Label.
In 2021, Timaya team up with the fast rising youngster singer BNXN to release “Cold Outside”, the song was a hit as he topped chart and several views on all social media platform. Timaya has collaborated with lot of other prominent Nigeria musician like Olamide, Sir Shina Peter, phyno , Terry G and lot others.

Timaya is a father of four children namely; Emmanuela, Grace, Emmanuel and Maya from three different woman. The singer has his two first daughter , Grace and Emmanuela with Barbara Funmanya Nwaokolo , he had Emmanuel with his baby mama, Tamar and Maya with Dunnie onasanya.
