Patoranking biography: Early Life and music career, Music And Networth

Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie (born May 27, 1990) is a Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter better known by his stage name Patoranking. Patoranking is from Onicha, Ebonyi State and was born and raised in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town.

He began his music career by collaborating with underground artists such as XProject, Konga, Slam, and Reggie Rockstone.In 2010, he signed a record deal with K-Igberaga Solo’s Records and released “Up in D Club” under the label.

Patoranking became a Dem Mama Records protégé after working with Timaya on his song “Alubarika.” He signed a record deal with Foston Musik in February 2014 and released “Girlie O,” a single that catapulted him to fame.

Patoranking announced on Instagram on February 9, 2015, that he had signed a distribution deal with VP Records. Patoranking released a song titled Abule on September 28th, ahead of his album, which is set to be released later in 2020. He once stated in 2020 that he got inspiration for a song while playing football on a football field.

Life and music career
Patoranking was born and raised in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town, but his ancestors are from Onicha, Ebonyi State. He began his education at Citizen Comprehensive College in Epe, Lagos, and later transferred to Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School in Iponri.

Patoranking began his performing arts career as a carnival and street jam dancer. He told Entertainment Express in 2012 that his stage name was given to him by a Jamaican artist he met at Alpha Beach in Lagos.

Patoranking’s musical influences include Buju Banton, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Lucky Dube, Chaka Demus, Majek Fashek, Blackky, Blackface, Tuface, and Marvelous Benjy. He described his music as a morally inclined variation of dancehall in the aforementioned interview with Entertainment Express, and he said it references socio-political issues
Okorie simultaneously released the audio and video for “Alubarika” on September 12, 2013. Timaya’s vocals are featured on the song, which literally translates to “God’s Blessings.” AJE Films directed the music video for “Alubarika,” which lasted 4 minutes and 16 seconds.

According to an article published by The Nation’s Victor Akande, Patoranking described the song as a summary of his life as a musician and stated that it opened doors for him in terms of building a fan base and working with established musicians.


Patoranking signed a record deal with Foston Musik in February 2014, ending his association with Dem Mama Records. Timaya revealed to Toolz on NdaniTV’s The Juice that Patoranking left his label and was never officially signed.

Patoranking released “Girlie O,” a song produced by WizzyPro, on February 4, 2014. Moe Musa directed and shot the music video for the song, which was released on February 5, 2014. Patoranking frees his next-door neighbor from domestic violence in the music video by expressing his natural feelings to her.
On May 19, 2014, Foston Musik released the Tiwa Savage-assisted “Girlie O” (Remix) to critical acclaim. It charted at No. 9 on MTV Base’s Official Naija Top 10. Tiwa Savage told MTV Base’s Ehiz that she admires Patoranking’s music and decided to approach him about doing the remix.

Moe Musa also shot and directed the music video for “Girlie O” (Remix) in London. “On the new remix, the basic winning elements were not discarded,” said Joey Akan of Pulse Nigeria. They were kept and improved. The beat, chorus, and dynamism were retained, and significant effort was put into the lyrics.
Patoranking appeared alongside Shaydee on Seyi Shay’s “Murda” single. Dokta Frabz produced the song, which was released on April 1, 2014. The music video for “Murda” was released on Vevo on May 11, 2014. Meji Alabi directed it for JM Films.

Patoranking’s singles “Daniella Whine” and “My Woman, My Everything” charted on MTV Base’s Official Naija Top 10. The former debuted at No. 4 in May and reached No. 1 in June, while the latter “My Woman, My Everything” also charted, peaking at No. 2 in June.
