Education Degree Online

An online education degree prepares students for elementary through high school teaching jobs. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects jobs for high school teachers to grow 4% between 2019-2029 and jobs for instructional coordinators to grow 6% during the same period.

Both recent college graduates and nontraditional learners apply to online education programs. Many online bachelor’s degree programs require applicants to submit standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, and transcripts.

What Are the Goals of an Education Degree?

Many online education degrees prepare students to teach at public primary or secondary schools. These programs emphasize traditional instruction and hands-on student teaching, a requirement for licensure. Other degrees, such as some early childhood education programs, lead to careers in education settings that do not require a state-issued license.

Courses vary by school, major, and specialization. However, many online education degrees cover topics like the principles of human biology, differentiated instruction, and developmental psychology.
